Why choose Aluminum Shake Roofing?

Wood cedar shakes not what they used to be

  • Old-growth forests almost non-existent
  • No long term value: cedar is expensive and just does not last;
  • Strain on our environment. We are using all of nature's limited resources
  • Cedar shakes and shingles require major upkeep and maintenance
  • Cedar and wood equals kindling. Wood burns and is extremely unsafe in the event of a fire

Concrete and Clay Tiles: more cons than pros

  • Concrete tiles weigh between 10-20 lbs per square foot. Aluminum weights a 1/2 lb per square foot.  An average roof might add 30-40 thousand pounds to your roof. Just imagine all the problems the additional weight can cause to a wood structure home.
  • Tiles tend to become brittle and crumble over time.
  • Not environmentally friendly. Tiles require a lot of energy and natural resources to produce

Most other roofs come with an extended warranty, knowing full well that their product will not last. Manufacturers trick you with limitations, exclusions and pro-rations. Aluminum Shake Roofing is very different. Most importantly, we offer two types of warranties. We offer both a lifetime product warranty from the manufacturer and a 7-year workmanship warranty from the contractor, Aluminum Shake Roofing.

Energy Efficient

  • Aluminum shake reflects radiant heat helping to reduce the temperature in your attic, or home, by up to 30 degees
  • Asphalt, concrete and wood roofs absorb heat. Most traditional roofing materials hold and store heat long after direct heat is no longer present
  • Save up to 40% in energy costs while reducing your environmental impact.

About Us

Metal Roofing

Aluminum Shake Roofing Inc. has been providing durable metal (aluminum, copper, and stainless steel) roofs and exterior cladding to single family, multifamily, light commercial and institutional homes and buildings since 1989. We have the equipment and experience required to fabricate and install special custom metal fabrications for your project.

Multi Family Roofing

We have worked with many communities and associations of apartment owners or beach house owners to develop programs to solve their roofing problems, and to do so permanently. The process can happen quite quickly in just a couple of weeks, but most of the time will require several months or even a couple of years to actually decide what to do and how to phase the work so that it can work within your budget.

All you need to know about roof warranties

Permanent, aluminum County Manor Shakes (CMS) look great on a roof just like cedar does, but with out the drawbacks of wood. There’s also a manufacturer’s warranty covering 100 percent of the cost of materials and labor (not prorated) for forty years or more. This is in case of the need for repairs because of unlikely system failure in winds of 120 mph, Hawaii’s salty atmosphere, flaking paint or other problems that might arise.

Find comfort in a sturdy aluminum roofing system

The series of storms that Hawaii has experienced, which come with gusty trade winds and drenching rains is fairly typical each year. Many of Honolulu’s homeowners with aged or deteriorating roofs are worried that they would blow off or suffer severe damage. Similarly, people with leaky roofs worried about possible water damage inside their homes . Either of these occurrences would mean that expensive and stressful repairs were likely

Is it time to re-roof your house?

How does one go about buying a new roof? It’s not something you do everyday, nor is it a home improvement that people know a lot about. You not only have to select the correct roof product, but you have to select a competent and fair-minded contractor to install it. Some people think with their wallets, while others simply buy what their neighbor bought or take the recommendation of a friend. These are all good ways to buy – if you’re lucky.

Zappone Copper Shingles

Copper’s longevity is legendary. Interestingly, almost all the copper produced throughout time is still in use. And, in addition to being 100% recyclable, most architectural copper has a recycled content of around 75%.

Historically, copper has served as the ultimate roofing material of choice. It is not only tough, sturdy and highly adaptive, it is the only metal (with the exception of gold) to possess color. Copper is the only roofing material that actually improves with age. It may take many years to go from a bright, reddish-gold to dark brown and finally a soft gray-green. Although copper’s life may be measured in centuries, it can be pricey and the contractor must exhibit a fairly high degree of installation and know how.

Zappone Manufacturing has continuously manufactured solid copper shingles longer than anyone. Zappone is also internationally recognized as a pioneer and leader in the copper shingle industry.

Zappone combines all of the natural and desirable qualities of copper into an attractive and affordable roofing shingle. With a look that fits nearly every residential and commercial use and virtually every architectural style, it’s no wonder the Zappone Copper shingle is the best solid copper shingle on the market today. While it may be simpler to install Zappone Copper Shingles than other copper roof systems, it cannot be rushed and it is imperative that the installation be properly executed.

The Zappone Copper Shingle comes in a variety of sizes and patterns. The standard shingle measures a nominal 14-1/2 by 8 inches and the accent shingle is half the size, measuring 7-1/4 by 8 inches. The shingles can be made either with a “shadow cup”, which makes it easy to walk on or without, which requires a tapered EPS insert to make it walkable, The standard shingle is made from
Tough 12” 12 ounce copper, but can be fabricated using 16 ounce copper, if desired.

Standing Seam

Standing Seam roofs are usually fabricated at the jobsite using virtually any metal, from a multiple of metal thickness and with many different protective metallic coatings. It can be fabricated using either painted or bare metal. The standing seam joints can be formed with many different types of interlock, either snap-lock or mechanically seamed. There are numerous types of clips and fasteners usually concealed within a panel’s seam. Of course, these concealed fasteners can be installed at different spacings. Most long panel metal roofs are not standing seam with concealed fasteners, but are simple overlapping panels where all the through-fasteners are exposed to the sky.

There are no “standard” flashing details to guide the homeowner or designer on how to properly select one system over another. You have to do your homework and know both what you want and how to specify it, and then, how to inspect the work being done.

Aluminum Shake Roofing Inc. is experienced in the proper methods of installation for standing seam roofing and we don’t cut corners. Our initial price is usually higher than your low bid, but the value is there. Owners have, on multiple occasions, hired ASR to later go back and replace that first, cheap roof after it has failed.

Custom Fabrication

ASR has custom designed, fabricated and installed multiple metal cladding systems over the years from a variety of “investment” metals; copper, stainless steel, “colorized” stainless or vapor dispersed metallic coating on stainless, plus zinc.

ASR has a computerized metal folder and power shear in house and expertly and routinely fabricates custom flashing and miscellaneous accessories for contractors, suppliers and roofers at very reasonable prices and quick turn-around times.
